I am writing to support Seth Furtney in his candidacy for City Council. I have known Seth personally for many years and he is an energetic, ethical, dedicated, intelligent and practical person. Seth has a long history of volunteerism and advocacy for outdoor recreation and community-building in Southwest Colorado.
He has served on Durango’s Parks and Recreation Board for five years and has been a volunteer and crew boss for Trails 2000/Durango Trails for over 15 years.
On the Parks and Recreation Board he has shown great dedication and tireless energy. His skill and dedication to bringing together the business community and outdoor recreation advocates helps to strengthen their complementary interests. Over these past five years he has delivered wise counsel to Paarks and Recreation and helped execute master plans for Parks and Recreation, Natural Lands and Multi-Modal Transportation departments.
He does extensive research to understand all aspects of any situation.
As an 18-year resident of Durango and avid outdoor enthusiast, Seth knows the community and its unique circumstances intimately. He is deeply committed to our quality of life, the sustainability of our environment, and the economic health of our town.
His extensive background in business gives him a pragmatic and practical approach to issues. He is a natural bridge builder and will represent the best interests of the town, its people, businesses and the beautiful environment that has brought so many of us here. I strongly encourage you to consider Seth for City Council.
