Rocky Mountain Park rangers find body believed to be hiker

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK — Rangers in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park have found a body believed to be that of a man missing for almost four weeks after he went for a day hike.

Park officials said the body was located late Saturday in steep terrain northwest of the summit of Mount Meeker. An autopsy is planned to confirm the identity, but officials say it’s believed to be Brian Perri of Fort Collins.

Perri was last heard from June 30 when he texted a friend a photo of himself on top of the 13,911-foot (4,175-meter) mountain.

Perri was day hiking and had no camping equipment. His car was found at a trailhead and a search was launched on July 5 across rugged terrain covering more than 20 square miles.
