The Durango Botanical Society is a partner with the “National Spirit of ‘45.” In 2019, this wonderful group worked to install a Rosie the Riveter Memorial Rose Garden within the Durango Botanic Gardens.
Sadly, the roses did not make it through the harsh, dry winter Durango saw this past season. Recently, the “Rosie” team was able to procure new roses and they were planted in the garden along with fresh mulch and new fencing to keep the deer away.
Next time you are at the library, be sure to follow the sidewalk toward the river and visit the new rose garden.
