Should you happen to be on your way to Mesa Verde one morning, stop in at Zuma Natural Food and its café in the big yellow building off U.S. Highway 160 in Mancos.
A delightful health food store, it supplies everything from organic soap and lotions to a strong cup of espresso or a bag of locally grown greens.
But if you’re hungry, the café is the thing. Bright and airy in the front of the shop, it has tables with hand-hewn legs, country details like old-fashioned milk pitchers and organic and all natural ingredients in its dishes.
The burritos of sausage, eggs and cheese are always recommended and available for breakfast and lunch, but if you need one, say, without dairy, they’ll gladly make it for you. Or if you want their delicious red pepper hummus without the wheat-based pita triangles, they’ll offer you a piece of gluten-free bread.
Imagine that, a breakfast/lunch spot with tasty food and accommodating help halfway between here and Utah.
