As soon as my LPEA member ballot arrives this month, I will be ticking the box for incumbent director Rachel Landis in District 3. In this time of transition from the era of coal and fossil fuel to alternative energy, Rachel’s strong and committed leadership is well-proven. She will continue to be in the metaphorical driver’s seat of one of the LPEA buses focused on the road ahead.
At the same time, she’ll use her rearview mirror to see what those of us riding along need in the transition. What more could I seek in a director than what Rachel brings to this position?
She functions with strong leadership, integrity, wisdom, level-headed foresight, a solid grasp of the complexities of LPEA and acute awareness of her constituents’ concerns. As important is her fine-tuned instinct about human nature in the midst of the paradigm shift in which we find ourselves.
This combination of character traits results in proven effective movement toward a future of much needed hope and cultural change. Oberlin College professor David Orr said it well: “Hope is a verb with its sleeves rolled up.” Rachel Landis embodies that concept and will demonstrate it over and over again.
