City of Durango to celebrate Winter Bike to Work Day

The city of Durango will celebrate sustainable transportation with Winter Bike to Work Day and the Business Commuter Challenge on Friday, Feb. 26.

Clean commuters may stop by the Transit Center from Monday to Friday, Feb. 26, to pick up a reusable tote bag with swag, including socks and a Winter Bike to Work Day hoody (while supplies last). The bag will include a list of businesses inviting clean commuters to stop by their locations on Bike to Work Day for discounts, free bicycle safety checks and other goodies.

Throughout the week look for Winter Bike to Work signs along the Animas River Trail, at the Transit Center and other locations with QR codes sharing fun facts about commuting and a survey. Complete the survey and be entered into a drawing for gift cards to local businesses.

Coworkers, friends or family members may compete in the Business Commuter Challenge. See who can bike, bus, walk, roll or carpool the most miles. Groups earn points for each sustainable trip. Trips include commutes, errands or social outings, but not exercise/recreation activities. The group logging the most miles gets the Community Challenge Snowflake trophy and bragging rights.
