Fall cleanup begins Monday in Durango

Neighborhood curb pickup offered through Nov. 3
Durango Herald file<br><br>The city of Durango collects leaves and tree trimmings twice a year. The fall cleanup begins Monday and goes through Nov. 3.

The city of Durango will conduct its fall cleanup Monday through Nov. 3. The service is offered to city residents only.

Crews will pick up tree trimmings and branches less than 8 feet in length and 8 inches in diameter and bagged or boxed loose brush and leaves. No other waste will be accepted.

Residents are asked to place materials in alleyways or along curbs. Crews will collect in each area once, and no more than two truckloads will be picked up from any one residence. Residents are also asked to place items at least 2 feet from fences, trees, bushes, gas meters, hydrants, power poles and connection boxes because of heavy equipment used to load waste into trucks. Residents should also avoid blocking traffic lanes and sidewalks.

Materials from nonresidents or materials placed outside of designated pickup times will be considered illegal dumping and citations will be issued.

Pickups are scheduled for:

Oct. 9-13: from 15th Street to the north city limits in all areas east and west of Main Avenue, including the Animas City area.Oct. 16-20: westside subdivisions, including Crestview, Needham, Rockridge and Junction Street areas.Oct. 23-27: eastside subdivisions, including Riverview, North College, Hillcrest and SkyRidge areas.Oct. 30-Nov. 3: from 15th Street to the south city limits and areas west of Ninth Street, including areas at west and east ends of U.S. Highway 160 within city limits.For more information, call Durango Code Enforcement at 375-4930 or visit www.durangogov.org.
