GREELEY – A person died Wednesday after a police officer fired shots while investigating a suspicious vehicle, authorities said.
The shooting happened after a Greeley police officer contacted a suspicious vehicle with two people inside in a parking lot at an apartment complex, according to the team of law enforcement agencies investigating the shooting. The officer saw that one of the people had a gun on his lap, the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team said. At some point, the officer fired shots but the statement from the team did not provide any other details about the shooting.
The person who was wounded died after being taken to the hospital, the team said.
