Skijoring followed by motorcycle racing will be featured this weekend in Silverton.
Opening ceremonies for 2020 Silverton Skijoring will be held at noon Saturday and Sunday on Blair Street from 10th to 13th streets.
Skijoring is slated to begin at 12:15 p.m. each day and will be followed by the motorcyclists, who should take the course around 3 p.m. to compete in the Durango Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Snow Races. Four motorcyclists will race bikes outfitted for winter conditions.
Skiers will compete on a 2½-block course over jumps and through gates for $10,000 in prize money.
For the safety of skiers, riders, horses and spectators, no dogs are allowed in the viewing areas along the course.
A beer garden, “Party Zone presented by 805 Beer,” will serve beer from Silverton breweries Golden Block and Avalanche, as well as 805 Beer. Entry to the Party Zone will be $20.
General admission to view skijoring on Blair Street is free.
