The Old Fort at Hesperus, New Mexico State University, Pine River Hops and volunteers will meet at 7:30 a.m. Monday in front of Steamworks Brewing Co., 801 East Second Ave., and use its Hopster, or hop-harvester, to remove cones from bines at Pine River Hops and the Old Fort.
The cones will be used to brew a new craft beer made with cascade and nugget hops. After the harvest, cones will be distributed to brewers at Steamworks and Carver Brewing Co. The beer is planned to be ready in the fall.
