Do not glorify bombs with national park

Regarding the idea of a national park glorifying weapons of mass destruction (Herald, June 8): Really? Of course the Manhattan project is important history, but to hold it up as a thing for which we as a nation take pride is just beyond the pale.

For that reason, this dark and shabby project does not deserve recognition and amplification as something to be proud of. Our nation remains the only one which has had such ruthless disdain for all other people that its leaders felt justified in deploying such awful despicable weaponry against civilians. To exalt the development of such a weapon is nothing short of celebrating the creation of the Death Star.
