The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Durango Business Improvement District sponsored a holiday lighting contest for businesses along the narrow gauge corridor from the train depot to the downtown limits.
Participating merchants in the holiday lighting contest included, Baskin Robbins, Brew Pub & Kitchen, Duranglers, Eolus Bar and Dining, Fired Up Pizza, The Graden Merchantile complex of businesses, Kroeger’s Ace Hardware, Main Mall, Mountain Bike Specialists, Strater Hotel and Henry Strater Theatre, Tippy Canoe, Toh-Atin Gallery, Wagon Wheel Liquors and the Wells Group.
Out of 14 businesses that “lit the tracks” for the contest, Mountain Bike Specialists placed first, Main Mall placed second, and the Strater Hotel and Henry Strater Theatre placed third.
Awards for the winning businesses included an all-inclusive private party on a first-class car for up to 15 guests and cash prizes.
