The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the $3 million expansion of Navajo Lake Marina was held Friday at Navajo Lake State Park.
A new store, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining and gas-dock buildings on more than half an acre of floating platforms were constructed during the lake’s offseason. The construction replaced the metal-shed structures that were built 50 years ago, shortly after the lake and marina opened for recreation.
“We are looking forward to giving the patrons of Navajo Lake State Park and the marina a first-class marina experience in line with other premier marinas,” said Jarrett Johnson, marina president and chief operating officer.
The expansion will also feature a splash-pad for kids, several courtesy slips, a fishing hole, overnight accommodations on 56- and 75-foot houseboats, an aqua lodge, kayaks, paddleboards, hydro-bikes, pedal-boats, pontoon boats, a ski-boat, 30-foot party barges, jet-skis, a fishing boat, a two-person Craig Cat and public restrooms.
Contributers included Winters Construction, FBT Architects, Marine Development Inc., Four Corners Community Bank, Navajo Dam Enterprises Inc. and New Mexico State Parks.
