Fort Lewis College celebrates retiring President Dene Kay Thomas on Tuesday with a “Farewell, Dene!” party at Sitter Family Hall on campus. Thomas, whose last official day will be July 31, is the college’s first woman president. She is speaking with, from left, Jenna Gilbert, Lindley Gallegos, Patrick Fredricks and Grace Chang. A community retirement celebration will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Rochester Hotel.
