The Town of Bayfield and the Pine River Library District are pleased to be holding the grand opening of our community's newest park from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. The Bayfield Library Park is a dedicated acre of outdoor recreational opportunities including a playing field, a perimeter walking path, an elementary and elementary/middle school playground, a combined basketball and pickle ball court and a shaded picnic table area, which will serve as a classroom on environmental and outdoor topics.
We want to give a shout out to all the community members who helped us design the park and participated in numerous surveys and outreach.
We are so appreciative of the grant money we received from Colorado Health Foundation and Great Outdoors Colorado. These two organizations provided 85 percent of the park's costs! Please join the hard-working library staff for the ribbon-cutting at 1:15, with Bayfield Mayor Matt Salka, Library Board President Abbie Wiler, and County Commissioner Julie Westendorff, followed by a pickleball court demonstration, our donor wall unveiling at 2 p.m. and a Veteran's Day celebration at 2:45 p.m.
There will be a coffee and hot chocolate bar, cupcake decorating and s'mores around the firepit.
Come celebrate our wonderful community, enjoy the sweet treats and put your name in for one of our five door prizes.
Shelley Walchak, director
