The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a red flag warning today, going into effect at noon and lasting until 8 p.m.
A red flag warning means gusty winds, low humidity and dry fuels exist and conditions are ideal for wildfires.
Winds are expected from the south from 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. Today's humidity will be from eight to 13 percent.
On Thursday, the NWS issued a Fire Weather Watch, meaning that fire weather conditions are in effect, and it could be upgraded to a red flag warning.
