Herald scolded voters for disagreeing

The editorial on “Election 2015” (Herald, Nov. 5) said the voters approved the sewer bond issue because of “the city’s scare tactics” or “indifference to the plant’s location.” But there is another possibility – the voters studied the issue and simply decided that the no-vote recommendation of the Herald was not the way to proceed.

We have elected some excellent City Councilors who, along with their superb staff, spent considerable time analyzing information in order to make the best decision for our community. The Herald said this entire process was merely to “validate a forgone conclusion” and it had recommended voting no.

Instead, consider that it was your editorial board that reached a forgone conclusion. No one wants a sewer plant in their back yard. But the Herald reasoned if all options had been thoroughly considered, it would be a forgone conclusion that the sewer plant must be moved.

Your editorial scolded the voters because they rejected your recommendation.

Thanks to our City Council and its staff for their hard work. And, in general, thanks to the Herald for providing a forum for analyzing our local issues.
