Tickets on sale for fourth annual John W. Sanders lecture

San Juan Basin Archaeological Society’s will host the fourth annual John W. Sanders lecture topic, “Meandering Neaders: A new look at our closest fossil relatives,” at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Student Union Ballroom at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive.

The lecture will be presented by Trenton W. Holliday, Department of Anthropology, Tulane University. Holliday will discuss the Neandertals (Homo Neanderthalensis), the best known and longest-recognized non-modern fossil humans.

The lecture is co-sponsored with the FLC Anthropology Department. The talk is part of “History Live,” organized by the Southwest Colorado Humanities Council.

Tickets will go on sale Monday and cost $12 plus a $3 convenience fee. Tickets may be purchased at the Durango Welcome Center, 802 Main Ave., by calling 247-7657 or online at www.durangoconcerts.com.

Proceeds will support the SJBAS Internship and Education Fund.
