Hilltopper to run at FLC

A Hilltopper soon will be climbing the hill to Fort Lewis College.

Mike Walker, who will graduate from Los Alamos High School in New Mexico, signed a national letter of intent to run cross country for the Skyhawks, the team announced Monday.

Walker placed seventh in the Class 4A state meet last November with a time of 16 minutes, 21 seconds.

“Michael comes to us from Los Alamos which is and has been a national high school power,” FLC head coach Mark Dutro in a news release. “He comes from a program with ties to the (Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) with his coach Rob Hipwood. We know he has been coached well and understands what it takes to be a force in the RMAC. We look forward to his potential immediate impact to our team.”

Walker earned varsity letters in cross country all four years in high school. He was named to the all-state team his senior season and was twice a All-District 2-4A runner.
