Agency offers electrified fences to protect beehives

As backyard beekeeping grows more popular, Colorado Parks and Wildlife has offered to keep residents’ honey safe from bears and will provide materials for simple, effective electrified enclosures to protect small-hive operations.

A short instructional video that shows how to assemble and operate the enclosures is available at http://bit.ly/2qgv2Fy.

Beekeepers who live within Durango city limits should review the rules for electric fencing.
