Botanist to give talk about management of invasive plants

Oxeye daisies grow near Cascade Creek north of Purgatory Resort.

Botanist Amanda Kuenzi will give a free presentation called “Invasive Plant Management: Oxeye Daisy and Russian Olive,” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the Lyceum Room of the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College.

The talk is being hosted by the Southwest Chapter of the Colorado Native Plant Society. Kuenzi leads programs for community engagement and citizen science and participates in field projects.

She will discuss the effectiveness of the chemical and non-chemical treatments used to curtail the oxeye daisy and the partnership to remove and replace Russian olive trees in the Animas River watershed.
