The Ignacio High School baseball team got beat up by both Nucla and the wind: The Bobcats lost their San Juan Basin League game 22-5 on Tuesday in Ignacio.
“Our pitching was good; we just had some errors out on the top of the field,” IHS head coach Lupe Huerta said.
Bo Ward took the loss on the mound, giving up 11 runs, six of them earned.
“He put a lot of balls in play that we just misplayed or dropped in the outfield because of the wind,” Huerta said.
“Put it up in the wind, and they went out.”
Tucker Ward went 2-for-3 at the plate, and Javin Webb didn’t get any hits but got on base in every one of his three at-bats.
“So he took them deep into the count,” Huerta said. “He had a good eye, and he got on base for us.”
Ignacio (3-5, 1-1 SJBL) will host Dove Creek in a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. Friday at IHS.
