Disaster Assistance Center available Tuesday

A Disaster Assistance Center for those who have been impacted by the 416 Fire will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, 2500 Main Ave.

The center will have representatives from several local, state, regional and national resources to help assist La Plata County community members who have been evacuated or whose employment has been affected by the 416 Fire. Organizations include Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado, Region 9 Economic Development District, Durango Food Bank, Workforce Center, Durango Tourism Office, San Juan Basin Public Health, La Plata County Department of Human Services, Axis Health, Family Center, Manna Soup Kitchen, and the Red Cross.

Additionally, representatives from FEMA Region 8 National Flood Insurance and the USDA Farm Service Agency will be available to answer questions and provide resources.

There will be additional Disaster Assistance Center dates scheduled over the coming weeks.
