McDonald’s provide jobs, higher wages

I take issue with McDonald’s being called out in the Tues., Jan. 2 article titled

As owner/operator of the McDonald’s restaurants in the Four Corners area, we have hired four additional employees for each location with kiosks. We have increased crew labor overall by a minimum of 70 hours per week in restaurants with kiosks to meet increased demand and improve customer experience.

Starting wage per employee in Colorado restaurants is above the required minimum wage at $10.50 with an average wage of $11.22. We’re providing more jobs, increased pay and increased hours.

Our customers will not see big price jumps in response to the minimum wage increase. If anything, we’ve seen a decrease in food cost on menu items through our new $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu. Customer service, with fresh food at a value, continues to be of utmost importance to us.

As a resident of the area where my family has lived for 40 years, we care very deeply about our employees and provide benefits like shift meals, flexible scheduling, world-class training programs and access to the Archways to Opportunity program with opportunities for employees to earn a free high school diploma, receive upfront tuition assistance for college courses, access academic advising courses and take free classes to learn English as a second language.
