Jeannie Arnold of Durango stands on the corner of 27th Street and Main Avenue on Tuesday to raise money for a homeless family. Arnold launched her Main Avenue fundraiser four weeks ago, after meeting a couple and their two young children who were living in their car. “They are just a beautiful family, and a sober, healthy family,” Arnold said. “The dad is ex-military, and they moved here to raise their family in peace and have been homeless for four months. I don’t normally do this, but after I met them, I wanted to help them. I’ve raised enough money to get them into a hotel, and I hope to get them into a rental soon.”
