Colorado Parks and Wildlife says kokanee salmon from Lake Nighthorse will not be given away this year.
CPW harvests kokanee eggs from state reservoirs and distributes them to hatcheries each fall. The egg-take this fall, with 10 million eggs harvested, was larger than expected. As a result, hatcheries are at capacity, which eliminates the need for fish to be spawned at Lake Nighthorse.
