Candidates line up for LPEA seats

The lines have been drawn to fill four La Plata Electric Association board seats.

Two candidates in each of the four LPEA districts have submitted their applications for voter consideration.

In District 2, the decision of Jerry McCaw to retire, brings two newcomers into the contest: Gregg Dubit, former executive director of the Four Corners Office of Resource Efficiency, and Kohler McInnis, retired owner of Kohler’s Printing & Copying who now manages three businesses from home. He is the brother of former U.S. Rep. Scott McInnis.

In District 1, incumbent Bob Formwalt, a rancher, will face Nicholas “Koli” Kazarinoff, a businessman of multiple interests who has a doctorate degree in neurophysiology of consciousness.

In District 3, incumbent Britt Bassett, a solar-energy consultant, meets James K. Wotkyns, a partner in the Wells Group.

The District 4 race pits incumbent Heather Erb, a real estate broker, against Karen Barger, owner of Seasons Rotisserie & Grill in downtown Durango.
