Equipment failure has left an undetermined number of CenturyLink customers in the Hermosa area without telephone service since late Saturday.
Technicians have been working at a junction box on Mead Lane in Hermosa to replace faulty parts.
Sara Spaulding, a spokeswoman for CenturyLink in Denver, said repair started about noon Sunday. She said all customers could be back in service by Tuesday evening.
Spaulding said the company doesn’t discuss specifics of equipment malfunction or the number of customers affected.
Bonnie Boyle, who lives on County Road 202, said a CenturyLink representative said he could transfer her calls to her cellphone, but it would cost extra if they were out of her calling area.
She has occasion to call Argentina, Boyle said.
Boyle and Nancy Moore, who also lives on County Road 202, said when they first reported interrupted service they were told it was their individual line, and repair would be forthcoming.
Only later did they learn the outage was area-wide. Boyle said she learned the outage extended to the Glacier Club on U.S. Highway 550 to the north.
