Because of the popularity of the veterans breakfast formally at the Durango Elks Lodge, it will be held at the fairgrounds banquet hall. The first breakfast will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 17.
The December breakfasts will be on the first and third Sundays. This will be the location until the lodge gets its kitchen running at the VFW Post 4031.
All veterans, their families and guest are invited to the breakfasts, featuring the VFW Post 4031 homemade sausage gravy and Southern home-style biscuits, eggs, smoked bacon, sausage, O’brien potatoes, fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, juice and toppings.
The first Sunday at the fairgrounds will add chicken fried steak, and Durango Diner green chili.
Cost is a donation of $8 for non-veterans, $7 for veterans and $4 for children 12 and younger. All proceeds go toward the remodel of the VFW kitchen.
