Best bets this weekend include Animas River Days and the Elliot Weber live comedy album recording.
Animas River Days will take place from 7:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Santa Rita Park. Amateurs and pros will compete in a variety of water races and events. Featured events include river surfing, stand-up paddling, freestyle kayaking, boatercross, raft and kayak slalom, an inflatable rodeo and a costumed river parade.
The festival will also feature a live DJ, food and retail vendors, gear demonstrations, kids’ activities and a Ska Beer and Vodka Garden. No dogs are allowed inside the beer garden. Wrapping up the festival will be the Late Night Party featuring Posh Josh at 9:30 p.m. at El Rancho Tavern, 975 Main Ave.
Animas River Days is partnering with San Juan Citizens Alliance and other conservation groups to educate the community and surrounding areas about keeping rivers healthy and safe.

The Elliot Weber Coming Out Live album recording will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday at Irish Embassy Pub, 900 Main Ave. as part of the Laugh Therapy series. Laugh Therapy is a stand-up comedy show that hosts open mic nights on the third Thursday of the month and a showcase on the first Saturday of the month.
This month’s showcase will feature local comic Elliot Weber, who will record his first live comedy album during this free show. Joining Weber will be local comics Jacob Jonas and Kate McLachlan performing featured sets.
