Ignacio elementary school students will celebrate the 10th annual Cultures Coming Together event at the Sun Ute Casino Resort ballroom today from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Students volunteered their free time to create a display on a culture of their choice. Fifth grade teacher Dylan Atkinson said the event is an opportunity to spotlight diversity in the community beyond its try-ethnic identity.
Approximately 20 students will present. Some students chose to investigate their own culture, while others explored foreign places and movements.
There will be presentations on rock and roll culture, Taiwan, Southern Utes, Italy and many others. Atkinson said the event is free and open to anyone who wants to attend.
