Letters: Sad watching Bettin, Youssef on City Council

Three of our city councilors – Mayor Dean Brookie, Chris Bettin and Melissa Youssef – are a real disappointment. Why are they so focused on having Amber Blake as our next city manager?

Sure, there is supposed public comment, but I believe the decision is made given they allowed Blake to be vetted and be a candidate at the last minute. Why did it take her so long to enter her name? Why has it taken the city so long to find a city manager? Something doesn’t smell right – but that’s par for the course with some of our councilors.

The three all are protégés of former City Manager Ron LeBlanc; all were around when the alleged embezzlement occurred. Why didn’t they and Blake ask the right questions? Do some digging?

Allowing Blake to become city manager will simply carry on the LeBlanc method of city management. I am looking forward to the spring when we can find three people who are willing to work with Councilors Barbara Noseworthy and Kim Baxter to ensure that our city runs well.

What is sad is watching Bettin and Youssef; when they were elected, there was great hope they would make a difference. Oh well, such is politics.
