BASALT – Prosecutors have dropped all charges against a driver who hit a drunk pedestrian in western Colorado.
Christopher Fish of Aspen had been charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident in the death of 54-year-old Michael Campion in Basalt in August.
The Aspen Daily News reports that Fish’s attorney, Pamela Mackey, said investigators jumped to conclusions about Fish being intoxicated, which hurt his reputation. In a statement, she said a blood test showed no sign of alcohol, marijuana or prescription medication.
In a statement Thursday, prosecutor Don Nottingham said the case against Fish was dropped based on a full review of the evidence, but he didn’t elaborate.
Police said Fish had failed roadside sobriety tests and an officer thought he was under the influence of marijuana.
