La Plata County Democrats met virtually in their biennial reorganization Saturday and elected Herb Bowman as their new chairman.
Bowman is a La Plata County native who, after graduating from Durango High School, went on to college and law school in Southern California. He became an FBI agent, and then a career prosecutor. He has worked overseas on human rights and rule of law projects in developing countries.
Bowman and his wife, Michelle, have made La Plata County their home base for the last 20 years. Their oldest daughter graduated from DHS in 2019, and their youngest daughter is in DHS class of 2023. Bowman has established a law practice that provides criminal defense to people with limited financial resources.
