Rollover reported near Long Hollow Dam

Authorities responded to a vehicle rollover Wednesday evening on Colorado Highway 140.

According to a Colorado State Patrol spokesman, authorities responded around 7 p.m. to the crash, which occurred near Long Hollow Dam, a few miles north of the New Mexico line.

The spokesman said authorities suspected the driver was intoxicated.

The Colorado State Patrol spokesman said the Southern Ute Indian Police took over the crash as the lead agency because the driver was a Native American and the incident occurred within the tribe’s jurisdiction.

As a result, the spokesman had no additional information.

When asked for details about the crash, Lindsay Box, spokeswoman for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, said, “At this time, we don’t have any information to share regarding this crash. It is still an open and ongoing investigation. I believe we will have the investigation completed by as early as Monday.”
