A furious finish saw the Wolverines finish on top Tuesday.

The Bayfield High School girls basketball team moved to 3-3 overall with a 45-41 win at Navajo Prep. Freshman guard Tymbree Florian led the Wolverines with 13 points, and Maddy Duran, a senior, added 10 in the big win.

Navajo Prep led 28-26 going to the fourth quarter and built a 39-33 lead before Florian made three consecutive mid-range jumpers to tie the game with under 2 minutes to play.

Duran was the hero at the right time and converted a three-point play to give BHS a 42-41 lead it wouldn’t relinquish. She also made a buzzer beating 3-pointer at halftime on a shot off the glass.

Courtney Bayles added seven points for the Wolverines in the win.

Navajo Prep went only 1-of-12 from the free-throw line while the Wolverines went 10-of-19. BHS also held Navjao Prep’s starters to one made basket in the first half.

Bayfield will host Alamosa at 7 p.m. Friday.
