I’m sorry to see Mike Smedley, my friend, go!
While I did not get the chance to read his offending Action Line column, I got the gist from his well-written and sincere apology.
I’m guessing most of us during our professional careers have wished we could take back things we’ve said or joked about. I sure have.
I want Mike to know I always looked forward to his calls while serving as a spokesperson for one exceptional government agency. Our team had a great time formulating our responses, particularly to a certain sign question – surely he remembers the one!
His smarts and wit will be missed. Mike, don’t let this last mea culpa define your long, outstanding career at the Herald. Thanks for not letting us take ourselves too seriously.
