Stilwater Music welcomes new full-time instructor

Stuard

Stillwater Music, a nonprofit organization that offers ensemble, private and inclusive lessons and performance opportunities to musicians of all ages and experience levels, has hired a new full-time music instructor, Dr. Easton Stuard.

Many in the Durango community know Stuard through his teaching positions, as well as his performances. Most recently, he was the co-director of bands at St. Columba School and co-owner of The Music School. Stuard has taught private lessons for many years, has served as an adjunct instructor at Fort Lewis College since 2015 and formerly served as music director at iAM Music.

Stuard received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in jazz piano from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Masters of Music in jazz pedagogy from the University of Northern Iowa. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist and seasoned performer, he has appeared locally with the Afro Beatniks, Robby Overfield and the Breaks and Hello Dollface. Stuard begins his position at Stillwater this fall.
