Janna Schaefer to be honored
Janna Schaefer received the Community Service Award of the Rotary Club of Durango for her volunteer contributions to residents, with a focus on serving military families and veterans.
She is on call 24 hours a day as a mentor for those seeking encouragement and support from the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, which helps those who have lost a loved one in the military and supports the Veterans of Foreign Wars Military Family Support Center, the Colorado Gold Star Parents Weekend, the Gold Star Wives of America, and the local Disabled American Veterans group. She volunteers for Mercy Hospice, the local Heartbeat program, suicide-prevention programs and more.

Free training on energy codes
The Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado will present free training on the new energy codes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Windom Rooms of the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
The class will be taught by instructor Shaunna Mozingo. It will cover 2009-2015 IECC, ResCheck, ComCheck, and HERS Index Scores. This training is for code officials, designers, contractors and HERS raters, and continuing education credits are provided for ICC & AIA CEU’s and LU’s. Lunch will be provided.
