Christo coverage omitted key details

The Herald’s coverage of the artist Christo’s plans for his Arkansas River art installment (Jan. 26) neglected to report the most important reason Christo said he is not continuing with it.

He said, “And here now, the federal government is our landlord. They own the land. I can’t do a project that benefits this landlord.”

His decision was a protest statement. The Herald’s coverage of Christo’s decision made it sound like he was simply tired of waiting for approval.

Clever editing distorts the truth. Or maybe it was just an alternate fact.
