The Durango branch of American Association of University Women and local merchants will celebrate Equal Pay Day on Friday
The gender pay gap remains a discouraging fact for women. On average, women earn 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. The pandemic-induced recession has increase this disparity as women suffer greater wage and job loss than men.
As a way to ease the financial disparity, several local merchants will offer discounts on services and products to women and girls Friday.
Participating merchants include 11th Street Station (Ernie’s and the Box), Cream Bean Berry, Dancing Willow Herbs, Durango Cyclery, Durango Olive Oil Co., Mac Ranch, Rufe’s Paint Store and WeFill.
