Senator Don Coram’s legislative record does not support reelection. His lifetime environmental voting record, as scored by Conservation Colorado, is just 35 percent, and his education voting record is not much better.
Coram and his Republican allies have made it clear that they have no interest in protecting our environment from climate change or in taking the bold steps necessary to fix our education funding crisis. Colorado ranks near the bottom nationally on education spending and teacher pay.
While in the Colorado House, Coram voted for a GOP resolution urging Congress to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act).
In this past legislative session, Senator Coram and his GOP colleagues either voted against, or let die in committees they controlled, measures to fund full-day kindergarten, help public schools develop critical student suicide prevention policies, provide additional needed funding for public school lead testing, and other measures intended to help fix our schools.
Instead, I plan to vote for Democratic candidate Guinn Unger for Colorado Senate District 6. Guinn wants to protect our environment, safeguard clean air and water and keep Colorado’s natural beauty safe for our descendants. Not only does he favor sensible environmental protections, but he believes in making better education choices, protecting women’s rights and providing health care at reasonable cost for all Coloradans.
Guinn Unger has my vote and I hope he has yours.
