Spotify: Add Adele, Enya to airplane travel playlist

For some people who have to travel by plane, Valium, listening to babbling brook soundscapes or finding a happy place just aren’t enough to quell fears of flying. If you’re one of those people, then Spotify has a new playlist for you: Calming Music to Fly to;http://open.spotify.com/user/spotifyplaylistofficial/playlist/6M3RIfVIlzJOYoYOUgxtbv. In a study commissioned by the prolific music streaming service, anxiety psychologist Becky Spelman found that music with a low bpm, preferably 60 bpm paired with slow, rhythmic breathing, is a powerful combo for calming rattled nerves.

While some songs make more sense (“Someone Like You” by Adele) than others (“Space Oddity” by David Bowie) and hit all over the musical spectrum (Enya? Red Hot Chili Peppers?), they’re scientifically proven to chill you out.

Here’s the full playlist:

“Someone Like You” – Adele; “Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)” – Enya; “Piano on The Beach” – Liborio Conti; “Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major (“Elvira Madigan”) K. 467” – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; “Better Together” – Jack Johnson; “Pure Shores” – All Saints; “Buffalo Soldier” – Bob Marley; “Scar Tissue” – Red Hot Chilli Peppers; “Paradise” – Coldplay; “As I Lay Me Down” – Sophie B. Hawkins; “Inside Out” – Britney Spears; “Ignition” – R. Kelly; “Flaws and All” – Beyoncé; “The Christmas Song” – Nat King Cole; “Space Oddity” – David Bowie.
