Join the effort to shop outside of Durango

City Councilor Dean Brookie needs to know the plastic-bag tax affects county residents as much as those who reside in the city. Justice, if it is defined as democracy, would demand that all of those who are equally affected have a voice in the matter. Durango is the commerce center for La Plata County. This was a matter for the county commissioners.

As for me, I will make a conscious effort to shop outside Durango city limits to divert sales-tax revenue to those who deserve it and to punish workers who voted for these leftists. Think of the environmental impact of more people driving to Farmington.

I am beginning construction of a new home in Pagosa (my 100th), and have told subcontractors not one dime of Durango-purchased materials is allowed on my project. I’ll purchase nothing that yields sales-tax revenue for Durango, including architectural services.

Please join with me and commit to purchase as much as possible outside of Durango’s city limits and save the sales tax.
