Letters: Doug Fults is the one for the LPEA board

Doug Fults is a new name in the renewable energy world but he is determined and focused to make a change.

LPEA is having an election and we hope to receive your vote so that Mr. Fults can fulfill a position on the board of LPEA.

As we all are very aware, Durango is a very sunny and amazing place. This natural resource could be utilized if we took advantage of renewable energy, specifically solar energy. If property owners or managers were able to make solar farms and sell excess energy to the city, we could change the agreement with the current producer, Tri-State.

This isn’t a modern or efficient deal anymore. Renewable energy is cleaner, has more value and will be a more valuable investment for Durango’s future.

These three main points of local, clean, and affordable energy are exactly what Fults is campaigning for. Our rural industry will be well supported by a greener switch, and we can begin to make a difference.

Please vote for Doug Fults in the upcoming LPEA election, as he strives for maintaining our local economy with affordable and worthwhile products.

Our sunny climate can make for sustainable income and energy production without the use of toxic coal plants.
