Bayfield Heritage Day planning starts

Planning has started for the 2015 Bayfield Heritage Day and Sheep Trailing the last Saturday in September.

The event, which started in 2000, features the trailing of around 2,000 sheep through town on the Buck Highway (CR 521), followed by a parade on Mill Street and food and craft vendors, live entertainment and an assortment of other family activities in Joe Stephenson Park.

Those are being determined by a planning committee with representatives from the Bayfield Lions Club, Pine River Heritage Society, and Pine River Centennial Rotary Club. Any other interested community members are welcome to participate. The next planning meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 13 at the Pine River Library. The group particularly needs a vendor coordinator for this year's event.

The event's updated website is www.bayfieldcoheritagedays.org. Vendor applications are available at the site, with a reduced price for early sign-ups by July 15.

Heritage Day will be Sept. 26 this year. The evening before is the Heritage Day Kick-off featuring a performance by the Bar-D Wranglers, a fundraiser for the Pine River Valley Heritage Society Museum.
