Spraying of various locations in Durango to continue

Herbicide spraying will commence on May 2 and continue until May 13, dependent on weather conditions, at the following locations: Oxbow Park and Preserve, Greenmount Cemetery, bar ditches adjacent to Hillcrest Golf Club, the old landfill at Holly Avenue and 31st Street, and Horse Gulch open space.

The herbicides that will be used are called 2-4-D Amine and Perspective, and applications are conducted to improve the quality of the right-of-ways, parks and open spaces in Durango.

The city promotes Best Management Practices in the stewardship of city lands to ensure the safe enjoyment of parks in the community, and has contracted with Tres Mesa for noxious weed abatement. The weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.
