Atmos Energy will conduct an inspection of its natural gas system Aug. 1-18, weather permitting, in preparation for future pipe-replacement projects in Durango.
To complete the inspection, underground utilities near residential properties will be identified.
“Over the next several weeks, approximately 216 residents living near or around East Third Avenue between Third Street and 12th Street will see increased activity in their neighborhood,” Darwin Winfield, Atmos Energy manager of public affairs, said in a press release.
“Residents won’t be bothered by any excavation work, but they can expect to see crews placing door hangers on homes notifying them of any activity that is about to take place.”
Work crews will have badges to identify them as Atmos Energy contractors, and they will need to access natural gas meters, which are sometimes located inside properties.
Work crews should complete work inside properties in about 30 minutes. Gas services will not be interrupted, and customers do not have to be at properties for work to be completed.
