Best bets this weekend will include Memorial Day weekend events and the much-anticipated annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic.
A flag placement ceremony will occur Saturday at Greenmount Cemetery. Attendees will meet at 9 a.m. at the American Legion Memorial in the cemetery to observe the flag placement.
The ceremony is organized by the Durango Veterans of Foreign Wars with participation by The American Legion, Vietnam Veterans Association and local volunteers.
Volunteers are asked to bring a long screwdriver to help place the flags.
The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic events will continue through Sunday, including a memorial ceremony Saturday in Silverton.
