At least FLC wasn’t last.
The Fort Lewis College men’s golf team finished its season eighth of nine schools at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Spring Championship on Tuesday at the Golf Club at Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Skyhawks finished with a 50-over 914 total after three rounds across two days, in front of only Adams State, which finished last at 920.
UC-Colorado Springs won the tournament with a 5-over 869, and Kevin Witte of UC-Colorado Springs carded a 73 on Tuesday for tournament medalist.
“They didn’t play very well,” FLC men’s golf coach Bud Andersen said. “It really was a disappointing spring season.”
Zack Bryant was the Skyhawks’ top finisher, tied for 19th at 11-over 227.
Charlie Laudermilk, who still has an outside chance of qualifying for SuperRegionals, tied for 26th at 231 for FLC, while Bryan Schlicter finished tied for 30th at 232, and John Thomsen and Lucas Laudick tied for 34th at 235.
The region will take the top 10 teams and the top five individuals not associated with one of those 10 teams for SuperRegionals on May 6-9 in DuPont, Wash.
Laudermilk, an FLC senior, has made SuperRegionals three out of four years and made nationals his junior year.
“Even if he doesn’t make it, he’s had a good career at Fort Lewis,” Andersen said. “Three of four years at SuperRegionals and nationals, not a lot of people can say that.”
